Hokie Farting Gnome

I got this gnome statue from Amazon, but it originally had a parrot tattoo on his rump. I sanded and repainted it with the VT logo for the in-laws. 

Salon Curtains

I sewed some curtains for the salon. The first is for hiding my disinfection box and strainer. My business colors are orange and teal so I pulled some stash cotton fabric. I didn't have a lot of the orange so I figured I would do a nice band in the middle between the teal. It ended up about two inches too short even though I measured (I must have used more fabric to go over the tension rod then I planned). 

To extend it to cover the bottom of the shelf, I added on the orange ruffle. I had about three inches of the fabric and needed to cover two inches of space. I spent a half hour trying to make my rolled edge attachment work before folding and ironing down the barest of hemmed edges. The I did a zig-zag stitch for the top of the ruffle and attached it to the rest of the curtain. I used french seams on the rest of the curtain so it doesn't match on the back. It bothers me a little, but who is going to see that besides me.

I also made a curtain to hide my sewing room without needing to close the door. I think it is a rayon crepe fabric also from my stash with a cotton pullback. This also helps keep the heat in the salon as my basement tends to be chilly.

Laundry Basket Lid and Liner

One of the regulations for my nail salon is that I need to have a laundry basket with a lid and washable liner. I bought this collapsible hamper because of the color before reading about the regulation so I sewed my own drawstring bag and lid.

Orange Pedicure Mat

Yet another pedicure mat made with Bernat Handicrafter Poppy. Crocheted with a N/P 10.0mm hook.

Orange Magenta Pedicure Mat

Here is a second pedicure mat made with Bernat Handicrafter Cotton in the colorway Batik bordered with peaches and Cream Cotton in Hot orange. Crocheted with a N/P 10.0mm hook.

Pink Cotton Pedicure Mat

I needed a long mat to go under my pedicure tub. I couldn't find a towel long enough so I made this one. The label for this yarn went missing, but I believe it is a Bernat Cotton. Crocheted with a N/P 10.0mm hook.

Aquarium Multi Garterlac Washcloths

A pair of wash cloths made from Knitpicks Dishie in the Aquarium Multi colorway. I was very pleased to be able to make two from one ball of yarn.

Wool Potholders

Here are some wool potholders that I wove using a Martha Stewart loom. The yarn is Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool that I dyed by hand.

April 2018 Project of the Month: 10 Stitch Lap Blanket

I loved the color of this yarn, and purchased all the skeins that were at the the store. It is Premier Yarns Isaac Mizrahi Craft Skyscraper in the colorway Seagram. I decided to make the Ten Stitch Blanket pattern by Frankie Brown to show off the color progression. 

After progressing through a few skeins I knew that it would not end up to be as large a blanket as I wanted. I tried to find more of this yarn, but it was on sale only for a limited time. It ended up being stuck in a bag and forgotten. I figured for the Project of the Month, I would knit as far as I could as that it would just be used as a lap blanket.

Zardoz Magnet and Ornament

 My friends gifted me a zardoz magnet. Zardoz is a dystopian future themed movie made in 1974, staring Sean Connery. In the movie it is also the name of a giant floating head that directs humanity.

This is the bare resin magnet.

I was so pleased with the magnet that I took a picture and turned it into a ornament. I made an extra one for the people that gifted me the magnet.

Hokie Garland

This is the third part of the handmade decorations for my mother-in-laws Christmas tree. I knitted around 25 feet of two colored i-cord (I learned how using this YouTube video). Upon gifting this I learned that the decorations were supposed to be for a miniature tree, and I had made far too much garland.

Hokie Ornaments Part 2

This is the second batch of hokie themed ornaments I made for my mother in law. I consider these to be a cookie dough style ornament because of the shape and thickness. They are made from polymer clay with an image decoupaged on the shape.

Hokie Ornaments Part 1

My Mother-in-Law wants to have a Hokie Christmas tree, and now wants ornaments as her presents each year. I ended up making my own pattern for these ornaments as I couldn't find one that would work with the size yarn that I had available.

Royal Gartelac Dishcloth

This is a Garterlac Dishcloth knit in Peaches & Cream in Royal using Size 2 US (2.75mm) needles.

Curtains

Materials: Cotton fabric and black out material
Notes: My husband and I bought our house a little over two years ago, and I've just finally gotten around to making curtains.

Craft room curtains. The walls are bright orange (the paint color is named tiggeriffic), which makes me very happy. I didn't have enough of the orange print, but I found the coordinating blue as one side of a pre-quilted fabric. Then I spent a very long time unquilting it. The other side has since become a purse.

 

 Man Cave curtains. I made these out of a sheer organza I found on clearance and some soft denim. After straightening the organza the curtains came up a bit short. That's okay because the sofa is parked directly in front of this window and you can't see the bottom of the curtain anyway.

 

  Bedroom curtains and blackout liners. The photo is really off for this . In the picture the two fabrics show a lot of contrast, but in person it's not as stark. I'm really pleased with how these turned out. So much hem tape for the liners. Sigh
