Splodey Tardis
So I do a bit of babysitting, and when it is to be an all day affair I bring out the art supplies. The child and I share a love for Dr. Who, and he really wants to do a mural of the exploding Tardis painting on his wall. Working from a picture I showed him how to divide the painting up into squares and draw it onto a canvas. Then we spent the day painting our line drawings.
Here is my finished piece.
Here is the artwork of my ward. He really enjoyed doing it, and I think next time we'll paint dragons.

Captain America Shoes
These are a pair of converse shoes that I painted for a friend as a birthday present. His favorite comic book character is Captain America and loved the final results. The original artwork is not mine as I asked him to pick out pieces he liked, but both ended up being heavily modified.

Tyranid Hat
This hat is for my husband. I wanted it to have more of a traditional color work look with the DNA strands surrounding the Tyranid icon.

40k Tyranid Warriors Batch 2
Here are the other half of warriors from the Tyranid army. These are all armed with Deathspitters. The formula on my tracking Excel file was incorrect, and after fixing it these models put me at 81% painted.

40k Tyranids Lictors
So here are the finished Lictors. I painted an out-of-production metal lictor model to be used as Deathleaper (in the center if you've never seen one). I think the model is one of the few from the old line that still holds up compared to the new ones. I like how he has more claws and ended up with so much more red on him than the finecast miniatures. The extra texture on his carapace was a bit of a pain with the way I paint my color scheme. I have a second one of these Lictors from the inheritance hoard, and I'm not sure if I should paint him up like this one or try to heavily convert him. I received a metal zoathrope and ravener from the hoard, and plan on eventually making those into a doom and red terror respectively.
Also, I posted previously about converting a warrior arm to replace the missing arm on one of the finecast lictors. I'm happy to report that with the full paint job, the replacement arm blends right in.
Even though I had a minor setback when my cat ran off with one of the finecast lictors breaking it in half, I now have 75% of the Tyranid army painted. Yay!

40k Tyranids Venomthropes
I'm hard at work on the Tyranid army. Here are some Venomthropes. These brings me to 74% of the army complete.

40k Tyranids Termagants
One of my dear friends passed away last December, and I inherited a great number of his miniatures. These are some termagants that he had, and I've integrated them into the hoard. Painting these models puts me at 73% army completed.
Here is one of the recent termagants on the left compared to one of my early paint jobs on the right. The main difference is the way I painted the carapace. I much prefer the newer version for it's greater contrast.

40k Tyranids Genestealers
Here are the finished genestealers. This puts me up to 70% of the Tyranid army painted.
And some Ymgarl genestealers. I have four that still need feeder tendril heads. I put regular heads on them for now. I'm trying to scrounge a few from local wargamers, but have yet to have any success.

Continuing Tyranids WIP
I've been hard at work this week to make more progress on these nids. I gave all the minis a magenta wash of my own concoction on their skin, and I also added fish gravel stones and texture paint to all the bases. I decided to split them up into type before drybrushing the base color for the skin back on.

2017 SotA Update 2: Tyranids WIP
After finishing up some recent commissions, I'm finally able to get back to working on Tyranids. In this tray are 31 Genestealers, 12 Spore Mines, 18 Hormagaunts, and 8 Termagants assembled, primed and base coated with their skin color. I think I'll go through the tray and do my wash and drybrush to the skin on all of them before splitting them up by model type to finish. The skin is always the hardest part for me to slog through. Fully painting all the models in this tray would be a big chunk towards my goal for my State of the Armies challenge.
