January 2018 Project of the Month: Eco Vest

I decided to return to the Project of the Month format for 2018. It was really motivating for getting old projects finished, and I still have heaps of those around me.

This is my new wool vest to keep me warm in my currently chilly home. The pattern is Eco Vest by Katie Himmelberg, originally published in Knitting Green for Interweave. It is available for free as a pdf download at "5 free Knitted Vest Patterns from knittingdaily", which is where I got it. The yarn is Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool which I hand dyed with Navy Jacquard Acid Dye. I had started this last year and lost the race to finish it before the weather warmed up.

Hokie Ornaments Part 2

This is the second batch of hokie themed ornaments I made for my mother in law. I consider these to be a cookie dough style ornament because of the shape and thickness. They are made from polymer clay with an image decoupaged on the shape.

Hokie Ornaments Part 1

My Mother-in-Law wants to have a Hokie Christmas tree, and now wants ornaments as her presents each year. I ended up making my own pattern for these ornaments as I couldn't find one that would work with the size yarn that I had available.

2017 State of the Armies: Final Update

It's the beginning of a new year, and I didn't quite complete my painting goal. I started 2017 with around 52% of the Tyranid army painted, and ended it with 90% completed (you can see my progress on my Model Master list). I still feel accomplished for getting that much finished.

At the end, I got bogged down with doing all the magnetization on these Carnefexes. Even with my furry helper that's a lot of swappable arms. Does anyone have a suggestion for how to store them? I'm still deciding on my goal for this year, but I think some conversions will be involved.
