40k Tyranid Spore Mines

These at the spore mines from the Harpy / Hive Crone kit. They differ slightly from the ones out of the Tyrannocyte kit. Mainly these have claws at the ends of one tentacle and fewer spikes on the main body. This puts me at 80% of my army painted.

40k Tyranids Lictors

So here are the finished Lictors. I painted an out-of-production metal lictor model to be used as Deathleaper (in the center if you've never seen one). I think the model is one of the few from the old line that still holds up compared to the new ones. I like how he has more claws and ended up with so much more red on him than the finecast miniatures. The extra texture on his carapace was a bit of a pain with the way I paint my color scheme. I have a second one of these Lictors from the inheritance hoard, and I'm not sure if I should paint him up like this one or try to heavily convert him. I received a metal zoathrope and ravener from the hoard, and plan on eventually making those into a doom and red terror respectively.

Also, I posted previously about converting a warrior arm to replace the missing arm on one of the finecast lictors. I'm happy to report that with the full paint job, the replacement arm blends right in.

Even though I had a minor setback when my cat ran off with one of the finecast lictors breaking it in half, I now have 75% of the Tyranid army painted. Yay!

40k Tyranids Venomthropes

I'm hard at work on the Tyranid army. Here are some Venomthropes. These brings me to 74% of the army complete.

40k Tyranids Termagants

One of my dear friends passed away last December, and I inherited a great number of his miniatures. These are some termagants that he had, and I've integrated them into the hoard. Painting these models puts me at 73% army completed.

Here is one of the recent termagants on the left compared to one of my early paint jobs on the right. The main difference is the way I painted the carapace. I much prefer the newer version for it's greater contrast.
